Flavio Deroo
I was trained as an electrical engineer but ended up working 15 years in technology, building banking software. I lived in four different countries along the way the settled in Berlin, Germany. For the past three years I've taken on the challenge at Emma Sleep as engineering lead for our retail expansion and franchise programme. I'm still so passionate about technology that I can't stop being hands-on, even when the job description says otherwise.
Question 1: Beyond your job title and bio, who are you really?
I am a dad of a little girl who means everything to me. She's my raison d'être and literally the reason I wake up in the morning.
I do enjoy cycling and playing the piano. I did years of Conservatoire when younger and got close to pick an artistic career for myself. I actually don't think art and science are that far apart when it comes to creativity, perseverance and the need to always be learning. I did give up my perfectionism but I still stay far too long in front of the keyboard.
